Mt. Vernon Middle School Earns U.S. News Best Middle Schools Ranking
Mt. Vernon School Corporation (MVCSC) is proud to announce that Mt. Vernon Middle School (MVMS) has been recognized as a U.S. News Best Middle School for the 2025–2026 academic year. MVMS ranked 170th among Indiana public middle schools evaluated by U.S. News & World Report, placing it in the top 30 percent statewide.
MVMS Principal, Dr. Lori Katz, commented, “Our staff share a collective commitment to connecting with students and families and working as a team to maximize learning for all students. We are proud of this achievement, and even more proud of the collaborative culture that made it possible.“
The U.S. News rankings evaluate how effectively schools prepare students for high school and continued education. The analysis is based on standardized test performance and socioeconomic data from the 2021–2022, 2022–2023, and 2023–2024 school years. Data sources include the U.S. Department of Education’s Common Core of Data, the 2020–2021 Civil Rights Data Collection, and the Department of Education’s EdFacts initiative.
Mt. Vernon Middle School earned an overall score of 64.94 out of 100. In key measures of high school readiness, MVMS ranked:
- 133rd in Reading Proficiency
- 109th in Math Proficiency
These rankings are out of 483 ranked middle schools in Indiana.
