Welcoming the 2025-2026 Mt. Vernon Ambassadors
2025-2026 Mt. Vernon Ambassadors Program
The Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation (MVCSC) is excited to welcome the fifth group of Mt. Vernon Ambassadors, featuring 29 new members for the 2025-2026 school year.
The Mt. Vernon Ambassador program offers community members a unique, behind-the-scenes look at the district. Participants learn about various departments and initiatives, including transportation, technology, special education, and more. This program is open to anyone interested in learning more about MVCSC, not just parents, alumni, or staff.
Ambassadors attend nine sessions from August through April, meeting once a month on Tuesday mornings. Those who attend all sessions (or miss no more than one) graduate from the program and are honored at a celebration in the spring.
The kickoff meeting in August was held in the Mt. Vernon Alumni Hall, located in the Administration Building. Over coffee and breakfast burritos, members introduced themselves and shared their reasons for joining. They also met district administrators and members of the School Board and received an overview of MVCSC’s operations and transportation team, learning how their work supports a safe and productive learning environment for all students.
This summer, all current and former Ambassadors were invited to tour the new Fortville Elementary School, which now serves students in kindergarten through fourth grade. The Ambassadors experienced Principal Edwards sharing insights about the new facilities that were designed with students’ educational success, engagement, and safety in mind, and how the building is a key part of the district’s long-term growth plans.
In addition to the monthly sessions, Ambassadors are encouraged to participate in district activities such as:
- Attending one co-curricular event (e.g., art show, choir concert, band performance)
- Attending one athletic event
- Either -
- Shadow a principal or assistant principal to observe classroom instruction and volunteer during a school lunch period OR
- Attend a School Board meeting
MVCSC deeply appreciates the commitment of these engaged community members, whose participation strengthens the district’s mission to empower students for lifelong success. Ambassadors also serve as informed advocates, helping to share accurate, insightful information throughout the community.
