Ryan King Named as Assistant Principal of McCordsville Elementary School

The Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation would like to welcome Mr. Ryan King as the new Assistant Principal of McCordsville Elementary School. Mr. King previously served in the Carmel Clay School District for nine years as a 4th and 5th grade elementary teacher. He has led or designed numerous professional development opportunities for staff and excels in cultivating positive relationships with students, parents, and his colleagues. 


Mr. King also served as his school’s technology coordinator and was part of the district’s technology committee. He was one of the district’s stakeholders in selecting technology programs and implementing them throughout his building. Through this experience, he found a love for working with the whole school community which has drawn him to advance his career at the Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation.


He has built a reputation as a highly effective educator who inspires his students to grow in their learning. Mr. King has vast experience leading rigorous instruction that ensures student growth. He is a proven school leader based on his experience and was a standout candidate for McCordsville Elementary.


Mrs. Stephanie Miller, Principal of McCordsville Elementary School, shared, “Ryan is a servant leader who will fit in well with our positive climate and culture at McCordsville Elementary. His energetic drive and exceptional interpersonal relationship skills will be an asset to our school community and we are incredibly excited to add him to our team.” 


Mr. King holds a Masters of Science in Educational Administration from Butler University in 2017, as well as a Masters of Science in Elementary Education with Technology Focus from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis in 2013. His Bachelor of Science in Early/Middle Childhood Education in 2008 was also from Butler University.


Mr. King states, “It has always been my goal to impact a school by providing high quality teacher training, meaningful feedback and contributing to a strong school culture and community. Passion and dedication are two of my values that I hope to use in my new leadership position and continue to improve the educational opportunities for children of all ability levels and backgrounds. I can’t wait to meet the Mt. Vernon staff, students and community!”
