FES & MES Celebrated "Kindy 500"

2019 Kindy 500

McCordsville Elementary School (MES) and Fortville Elementary 2019 Kindy 500School (FES) recently celebrated the month of racing by hosting "Kindy 500." This event has also been called the “Cutest Spectacle in Racing.” Kindergarteners decorated a cardboard box as a race car, paraded through their school and completed a lap in front of an audience of parents. The former Indy 500 broadcaster, Paul Page, was in attendance to announce the race at MES. The festivities ended with medals, milk, and lots of smiles.

FES’s "Kindy 500" began with the choir singing the National Anthem, followed by a "pace car" (decorated bike) leading the first lap outside.  Each child took a parade lap waving to the crowd and then the students each received a medal and milk, and celebrated with their families.

MES kindergarten students took a lap around the school high-fiving older students and then raced one another in the gym. Several heats revealed a class winner, and they competed to have the fastest overall winner. Two 500 Princesses gave the fastest racer a jug of milk, to which he gulped quickly, and an award.
