Thanks to our MV Community Champions!

MV Community Champions

The Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation (MVCSC) is appreciative of the over 240 community members that came out on 1/21 to share their views as MV Community Champions. These champions consisted of MV parents, any in-district residents, businesses and community members. Attendees shared their thoughts on the multiple options of growth possibilities, including how grade configurations are assigned in our schools. This MV Community Champions initiative is to develop a 10-year Future Growth Plan for Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation. At the March MVCSC School Board meeting, this 10-year Growth Plan will be presented to the board for review.

All attendees were invited to stay after for the "Town Hall Q&A" at 8 p.m. with Superintendent Dr. Parker. Approximately 100 MV Community Champions stayed to engage in this fruitful discussion.

MVCSC asked hundreds of community members to attend two meetings from 7 - 8 p.m. on August 27, 2019 and January 21, 2020. At the August meeting, attendees shared their thoughts on the multiple options of growth possibilities, including how grade configurations are assigned in our schools. A group composite of the Mt. Vernon community, including parents, staff, residents, business owners, alumni, grandparents, and residents have been meeting since August to analyse and refine the data gleaned from the full community meeting in August. This group is called the MV Community Champions Advisory Committee, and they have been meeting nearly monthly working hard towards a draft of the Future Growth Plan.

We greatly appreciate the 317 community members that came to voice their opinions for the future of the Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation at the August meeting and the 240 that attended in January.  The MV Community Champions Advisory Committee and the Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation values your opinions and will use them to improve upon our growing district.  Thank you for contributing to our Future Growth Plan!

If you were unable to attend in August or January meetings and would like to review some of the topics that were covered, please see the MV Community Champions webpage HERE.
