Out-of-District/Transfer Student Application Windows for 2024-2025 School Year

Out-of-District/Transfer Student Application Windows for 2024-2025 School Year
All students who live out-of-district and are interested in attending or are currently attending a Mt. Vernon school are also required to submit an application during either of these selected windows to attend a Mt. Vernon school during the 2024-2025 school year. If you live in any MVCSC enrollment area, you do NOT need to complete this application.

For families that are new to Mt. Vernon, the Mini-Marauder Preschool and grades four through eight will be closed. Children of new Mt. Vernon families in those grades will not be accepted. (A "new Mt. Vernon family" is defined as a family with zero children/step-children attending a Mt. Vernon school during this current 2023-2024 school year.) If you currently have any children or step-children in your family attending Mt. Vernon in the 2023-2024 school year, this closure does not apply to you.

As Superintendent Dr. Parker has previously shared, once you are a Mt. Vernon student/family, those students who apply will remain part of the Mt. Vernon family unless the student has major discipline or attendance issues.

The 2024-2025 Out-of-District/Transfer Student Application will be live HERE during:

Window 1 - Friday, April 12 at 4 p.m. through Monday, April 22 at 8 a.m.

Window 2 - Friday, May 3 at 4 p.m. through Monday, May 13 at 8 a.m.

Parents/guardians will need to complete a separate application for each student who currently lives outside the school district or who anticipates moving out of the district before the 2024-2025 school year begins.

By completing the application you are entering the student into the out-of-district/transfer pool and requesting to attend Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation during the 2024-2025 school year. This does not guarantee enrollment, but priority will be given to current out-of-district/transfer students, their siblings/step-siblings and employees' children.  All applicants will receive notice by Friday, May 31, 2023.

GUIDELINES FOR ALL OUT-OF-DISTRICT/TRANSFER APPLICATIONS:

  1. All applications must be submitted online during either of the two application weeks and before the final deadline of Monday, May 13 at 8 a.m.
  2. Applications are only for one school year, must be filled out for each child, and must be re-submitted each year.
  3. Applying the first week instead of the second week does not increase your child’s chances of being approved. Offering two weeks allows the district to assess early numbers and possibly acquire necessary teachers earlier in the hiring season.
  4. All applications will be date/time stamped upon submission, processed in the order in which they are received, and considered on a case-by-case basis.
  5. It is possible that NOT all applications for new Mt. Vernon families will be approved for specific elementary buildings due to several considerations, including building capacity and class size.
  6. A "new Mt. Vernon family" is defined as a family with zero children or step-children currently attending a Mt. Vernon school.
  7. Employees' children and current out-of-district/transfer students (and their siblings/step-siblings) will have priority when reviewing applications.
  8. If you live in one elementary school region and wish to attend a different elementary school, you do not need to fill out the application but rather email both elementary school principals and make this request for their consideration.
  9. Out-of-district/transfer Mini-Marauder Preschool students who are either returning or are siblings of a current Mt. Vernon student also need to fill out the application.
  10. Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation is accepting out-of-district/transfer students for the upcoming school year as adopted by Corporation Policy C125.
  11. By submitting an application, parents agree to provide their own transportation to and from school for the duration of the school year or adhere to the assigned bus stop.
