Hancock County is a county located in Indiana just east of Indianapolis. As of 2020, the population was 79,840. The county seat is Greenfield.

There are five main towns in the Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation boundaries. They consist of:
Fortville - Fortville is a town in Vernon Township, Hancock County. The population was 3,929 at the 2010 census.
McCordsville - McCordsville is a town in Vernon Township, Hancock County. The population was 4,797 at the 2010 census.
Mt. Comfort - Mt. Comfort is an unincorporated community in Buck Creek Township, Hancock County.
Mohawk - Mohawk is an unincorporated community in Buck Creek Township, Hancock County.
Cumberland - Part of Cumberland is located in the southwest corner of the Mt. Vernon District.

The Hancock County Community Foundation is a nonprofit, public charity that promotes local philanthropy, convenes community initiatives, and supports nonprofit organizations.
HCVB -
The Hancock County Visitors Bureau promotes the cultural, historical, artistic and commercial amenities of Hancock County to increase tourism and visitation.
Libraries -
There are two public libraries in Hancock County, which includes the Fortville Public Library, and also the Hancock County Library located in Greenfield.
