Mt. Vernon Seeks a New Superintendent

The Mt. Vernon School Board has completed extensive research with the community in preparation for a new superintendent.  Superintendent Dr. Riggs is scheduled to retire in June 2015.  The research process began in the fall by discussing with community stakeholders qualifications criteria for the new superintendent.  The Mt. Vernon School Board has enlisted the support of university doctorial advisors, several organizations, students and staff to collaborate on the incoming superintendent's profile.  The school board is grateful for the community's input which directed the final profile.

The superintendent profile highlights the experience, characteristics and skills needed for the new superintendent, with the new contract scheduled to begin July 2015.  Applications are accepted through February 13th, with interviews scheduled for March.  The ideal situation is to have the new superintendent work with Dr. Riggs a few months before he retires.  The superintendent vacancy announcement and and application are linked here.
