MVHS Class of 2021 Commencement Ceremony

As the 2020-2021 school year reaches its end, the class of 2021 graduates celebrated with a safe and socially distant graduation ceremony. Exactly 342 (subject to change) seniors were asked to walk across the stage to receive their diplomas, recounting all their hard work and dedication. The commencement ceremony took place at the Mt. Vernon High School Hancock Health Stadium with students being socially distant on the football field. See full photo gallery HERE.

Highlights of the evening included the prelude and National Anthem played by the Mt. Vernon High School band under the direction of Ms. Jackie Nason. The MVHS Commencement Choir also performed a musical selection, following the opening remarks from MVHS Assistant Principal, Stan Wilkison. 

The salutatory address was given by Olivia Yeley and the valedictory address was given by James Demircioglu. The top academic students and senior class officers received their diplomas first, followed by the rest of their classmates alphabetically.

Soon after, Mr. Casey Dodd, Principal of Mt. Vernon High School, presented the Class of 2021 to Superintendent Dr. Jack Parker.

Staff were in attendance to celebrate the seniors. Principal Dodd gave the final farewell, which was followed by the senior student class recessional. Congratulations Class of 2021!  MVCSC wishes you all the best!
