Mr. Williams began his IPLI journey in the summer of 2017. He was assigned to Cohort #5, which consisted of several principals from various places around Indiana. His mentor was Dr. Jack Parker, who was at the time the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching & Learning at Center Grove schools and is now the current Superintendent of Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation. Dr. Parker played an instrumental role in providing Mr. Williams and the rest of his group with personal growth opportunities and professional development.

The IPLI experience included several conferences at Indiana State University and in Indianapolis. Several of the most intelligent minds in education provided innovative research and strategies regarding what makes schools successful to this talented group of principals.

Mr. Williams states, “As an educator, my IPLI experience has been the absolute best professional development in my career.” He continues,“I am a proud graduate of IPLI Cohort #5 and will use the concepts learned to further the mission of MVCSC to engage, educate, and empower our students.”

Throughout the two years, Mr. Williams conducted four action research projects that not only aimed to improve his own personal development as an educator, but also enhance the continuous growth of MVMS. The concepts he gained knowledge in included Staff Development, Student Engagement, the High Reliability Schools Model, Instructional Rounds, and the Professional Learning Communities (PLC) process. These concepts have already begun to supplement the eduMr. Williams, IPLI Graduatecation offered at MVMS, and will continue to do so in the future.
