MES Hosts Living History Museum

MES living history museum

McCordsville Elementary School (MES) fourth grade students recently participated in their annual Living History Museum event. Each studentMES Living History Museum was assigned a famous American from Indiana who they researched and personified for an afternoon. Students created a poster, dressed up as the character and prepared a brief speech that was automated when their “button” was pressed.

Parents and other MES students were welcomed at the event to see all the hard work that the students put into the project. Those who wanted to learn more about each person were able to look at the students’ posters, listen to their speeches, and ask questions if needed.

Some of the famous Americans in attendance included Janet Jackson, Colonel Sanders, Madam CJ Walker, and Jaycie Phelps, among many famous Hoosiers.

The living history museum project was an engaging way for students to learn more about research, famous Hoosiers, essay writing, and public speaking. It also gave students an opportunity to learn more about the history and accomplishments of influential Americans over many time periods.
