The holidays are the perfect time to give to others and to help those who are less fortunate. This year for the holidays, McCordsville took the wonderful opportunity to start a service project called Bedtime Bags. The first and fifth graders collected donations all through the month of December with their classes to fill up bags with toothbrushes, soaps, and other necessities that a child would need.
The McCordsville Elementary Bedtime Bags service project also received a grant of $250 to purchase tote bags to fill for each child. The grant was awarded on behalf of generationOn Indiana, Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP), and Indiana Middle Level Education Association (IMLEA). The grant allowed for MES to buy bags to fill with the donations made by the MES students.
The MES students filled the bags on December 19th with their classes by creating an “assembly line” to fill the bags with each item and to make sure each bag had all of the necessities that was needed. The Bedtime Bags will be donated by MES to children and families at the Hancock Hope House this holiday season.
McCordsville Elementary sees the importance of giving to those in need this holiday season. Mt. Vernon Schools are setting a great example and making a positive impact in the community.
