MVCSC Launches an App!

Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation (MVCSC) has launched a convenient mobile app for the community to access school information. The free app, identified by the MVCSC district seal, can be found in the app store by searching “Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation.”

Community members can select to follow specific schools under the “Settings” icon.  The app features updated school and district news, events, and access to Skyward (MVCSC’s student data management portal).  Another feature the app offers is push notifications.

Superintendent Dr. Shane Robbins states, “The new Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation app will provide easy access for our families to have school information at their fingertips.  The app provides a new tool to engage our constituents in an increasingly mobile world, and allows MVCSC to connect with parents on the go.  This tool is yet another opportunity to stay on the cutting edge of education and technology.”

A few features on the MVCSC app:

  • News – Encompasses all news articles appearing on the MVCSC website
  • Events – Includes all district events and events per school, selected by the user
  • Schools – Gives details on each school, including address/map, phone numbers/touch to call, school website addresses, office hours and social media links
  • Staff – Lists administrative and teaching staff for the district and each corresponding school (additional staff pictures will be added in the future)
  • Skyward – Direct link to Skyward student management portal
  • Individual School Icons – Each school will have the option to add new icons as needed, such as athletics, menu or other quick links

Maria Bond, Director of Community Relations, coordinated the app build and stated, “the goal of the app was to provide a professional communication tool to engage parents and community members. Each school will have the ability to send push notifications and customize their section of the app, providing the most important information for their constituents through a mobile device.”
