Mt. Vernon High School's Center Stage Choir recently returned from performing at Carnegie Hall in New York City. The Center Stage choir performed beautifully with nearly 275 other singers and were awarded the opportunity to work with Dr. Daniel Bara, Director of Choral Activities at the University of Georgia, and Dr. Deanna Joseph, Director of Choral Activities at Georgia State University. The students rehearsed for a total of 10 hours over the weekend.
Despite all the rehearsal time, the group was still able to fit in a Broadway show, a tour of Manhattan, a tour at Top of the Rock in the Rockefeller Center, and a tour of Radio City Music Hall.
MVHS Center Stage Choir Director, Leigh Anderson, states, "they conducted themselves with poise and professionalism. It was certainly an honor to perform for a full house at one of the most famous performance halls in the nation, and they have worked hard to do so. This trip is a milestone for our choral program, and I believe it is the first of many incredible performance tours we will have in the future. Thanks to all in the MVCSC community who have supported us in this endeavor. We could not have done this alone."
The Mt. Vernon community is certainly proud of Center Stage and all the musical success being achieved throughout the department!
