Many Mt. Vernon High School Seniors made a difference throughout the community on Senior Work Day. Each senior signed up to work from 9 a.m. - noon, and were divided into six locations performing various duties. Their day of service was followed by a cookout with Superintendent Dr. Robbins and the administration team grilling at the track. After lunch they picked up their cap/gown in preparation for graduation next week.
The seniors were at all three elementary schools working inside helping teachers/students in the classrooms, with recess or lunch duty. Some worked with children, while others painted outside in the perfect weather. There was also a group at the middle school working inside for Assistant Principal Williams, as well as outside painting. Another group at the high school mulched the athletic fields, painted a parking lot, cleaned up the entrances and football stadium bleachers, and a few helped teachers inside. One other crew went to Fortville Memorial Park to work on the fields and picked up trash.
Mt. Vernon High School Class of 2016 is leaving a footprint and making a difference in the community. Congratulations to all MVHS Seniors! Remember to stay in touch with the Mt. Vernon Alumni Association and Mt. Vernon Education Foundation!
