MVHS Students Receive Chromebooks

With a mixture of nervous and excited anticipation, Mt. Vernon seniors lined up out the door of the Mt. Vernon High School (MVHS) media center Friday, waiting instructions on receiving their brand new Dell Chromebooks.  Each student had their signed acceptable use policy and insurance agreement papers in hand, which was required prior to receiving the Chromebook.

The MVHS media center was staged as an assembly line with instructions written and verbally explained to walk out with the device.  Students handed administrators their acceptable use policy and insurance agreements and unpacked their new Dell with their name on it.  Next, they learned how to log-on to their account which is through the school’s network.  After their Chromebooks were scanned and registered, students then received charging cables and cases.

Miles Wayer, a senior at MVHS stated, “I’m looking forward to getting the Chromebook because it means I’ll have to carry fewer textbooks, and we won’t have any snow days with the e-Learning days.”  Jonathan Taylor added, “This is really going to modernize our school.”

Mt. Vernon Middle School is planning on distributing Chromebooks to the students next week.  Students will keep the same Chromebook for four years at Mt. Vernon, although it will be returned to the school over breaks.
