Board Of Education

Mrs. Kellie Freeman is serving her second term on the Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation (MVCSC) School Board of Trustees.  She lives in the southern portion of the MVCSC district in Greenfield.  Freeman serves as a Transition Coordinator and a Special Education Teacher for Carmel Clay Schools.  She is raising her two children with her husband, Joe, who retired as an MVHS World Language Teacher in 2020. Her son Dylan recently graduated from IUPUI, and Tessa attends DePauw University.

Freeman has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Ball State University.  She has volunteered on the Parent Teacher's Organizations at the Mt. Vernon Middle School and 8th Grade Academy.  She also previously served as the President of the MVCSC Corporation Improvement Council.

During her tenure on the School Board of Trustees, Freeman's goals include expanding vocational opportunities for students and to be a voice for MVCSC teachers.  She is passionate about supporting students and teachers, and stated, "I believe that our School Board needs to consider how our decisions affect students, teachers and the community.  We need to ask questions and ensure that we are not moving too fast or slow in any one direction while understanding that what is best for the students should always come first."
