The holidays are all about giving and being a blessing to others, and the Mt. Vernon Education Foundation (MVEF) would love for you to donate and support them during this time of giving. Giving Tuesday is the perfect opportunity to help and show your support. It is a global day of giving that is fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Giving Tuesday is on November 28 this year, but donations can be made anytime at www.MtVernonFoundation.org. The MVEF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, so all donations are tax-deductible.
When asked what donations mean to MVEF, Executive Director, Renee Oldham, said, “Today, I am reminded of one of my favorite Anne Frank quotes, ‘No one has ever become poor by giving.’ Many times I hear that there is this expectation that one must be wealthy to be charitable, that’s just not accurate.”
“We all have the capacity to be philanthropic regardless of the dollar amount, by our desire to give back through promoting, nourishing, improving and enhancing the quality of life in the development potential of human beings,” she added. “Mt. Vernon Education Foundation is asking you to invest in our future, right here at home, our children, by giving back this holiday season.”
As a final remark, Oldham expressed, “Giving Tuesday serves as the annual fundraising campaign for the Mt. Vernon Education Foundation. This annual day of giving serves as not only a source of pride for our school but an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on each and every one of our students through the grants, initiatives, and programs that MVEF provides. Since our inception, we have been able to award over $350,000 thanks to the generosity of our donors. #MVEFProud”
The MVEF has had a great influence on the Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation and continues to impact the students and staff in substantial ways. Elementary Literacy Coach Courtney Streicher is one staff member that has seen the beneficial impacts of the MVEF. “I’ve been blessed to have received four different grants from MVEF over the past few years. They have helped me build a leveled classroom library, send a whole team of teachers to a conference, add six iPads to my classroom before our district went 1:1, and last year I was able to get a whole section of nonfiction leveled readers for the McCordsville Elementary School library,” Streicher said. “We are very lucky to have a Foundation that helps educators reach our goals when we don’t always have the funds to do otherwise. Thank you MVEF, as an educator in our district, as well as a MV parent.”
The MVEF has changed the way students learn in the community and are able to give dedicated and hard-working teachers the tools they need. For Giving Tuesday, donate to the Mt.
