Superintendent's Summer Book Bonanza!

book bonanza

This summer, Superintendent Dr. Parker is partnering with the Fortville-Vernon Township Public Library to host a Summer Book Bonanza! Dr. Parker wants to share his love of reading with Mt. Vernon students and connect with them this summer through a book club.

There will be 25 Mt. Vernon students from each age grouping (K-1, 2-3, 4-5, 6-7, & 8-11) randomly selected to participate, but parents need to register their child into the drawing HERE no later than May 28. The winners will receive a free copy of the chosen summer reading book (sponsored by the Mt. Vernon Education Foundation) to read at home. The selected 25 for each grade grouping will meet with Dr. Parker for a “book club meeting” at the Fortville-Vernon Township Public Library in July.

Parents, Sign Your Child Up For Dr. Parker's Summer Book Bonanza Here by May 28!

Parents/guardians need sign up by Friday, May 28 for the chance for your child to be one of 25 included in the summer book club and receive a free book! Parents will be notified via email if their child has been selected on June 1. The student/parent will pick up their free book and attend their designated July meeting date (see above table) at the Fortville-Vernon Township Public Library with Superintendent Dr. Parker.

If your child is not selected as one of the 25 students per age group, they are still encouraged to read the selected book at home and send in a postcard to Dr. Parker about their thoughts on the book. Be on the lookout for the district’s social media to participate in the social media challenges for a chance to be featured!
