Mr. Greg Elkins Named as Chief Financial Officer for MVCSC

Mr. Greg Elkins


Mr. Greg Elkins has been named as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation (MVCSC), effective July 1, 2019. Mr. Elkins has been serving as the Assistant Superintendent of Business and Operations for Blackford County Schools.


MVCSC Superintendent Dr. Parker shared, “Mr. Elkins brings substantial financial experience to Mt. Vernon. He has created and managed two $19 million budgets and has overseen a $5 million bond issuance with new construction as well. His integrity and commitment to ethical fiscal leadership will be a great asset to Mt. Vernon.”


Prior to coming to Blackford County Schools in 2017 as the Assistant Superintendent of Business and Operations, Elkins served as the Assistant Principal of Shelbyville High School from 2012 through 2017. Between 2004 and 2012 Elkins was a Chemistry teacher and the Girls’ Varsity Basketball Coach for New Palestine High School and Bedford North Lawrence High School. He originally began his teaching career at Edgewood High School in 2000.


Mr. Elkins received his Education Specialist, Principal Licensure and Masters of Education from Indiana Wesleyan University between 2004 and 2011. He received his Bachelors of Science Education from Indiana State University in 2000 and his Bachelors of General Studies in Science and Mathematics from Indiana University in 1998.


Mr. Elkins stated, “I am honored to be selected to serve as the new CFO for Mt. Vernon. My leadership will be centered on making efficient use of funds and manage the finances in a legal, ethical, and responsible manner. As a 13-year resident of Hancock County, I believe my familiarity of the Mt. Vernon district will be an asset in my transition and I look forward to meeting the staff.”
