Mr. Brandon Ecker, Mt. Vernon High School (MVHS) Athletic Director, has recently received the Indiana Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (IIAAA) “District 4 Charles F. Maas Distinguished Service Award.” Mr. Ecker was recognized for the following qualities of an effective athletic leader: integrity, honesty, citizenship, sportsmanship, self-discipline, communication skills, positive attitude, responsibility, impartiality, strong work ethic, and respect and honor of the profession.
The award is given to an athletic director in each of Indiana’s six districts for "distinguished service to interscholastic athletics, the IIAAA, and IHSAA."
The overall vision of the IIAAA is to encourage athletic directors to “assume the leadership role in serving as a source of knowledge, a liaison, a mediator and initiator of the best programs and practices; as well as an advocate of the student-athlete's growth and development.”
Mr. Ecker’s tireless work is an essential part of the success of every Mt. Vernon athlete. He is an advocate for the growth and development of student-athletes in addition to being a catalyst to the athletic success of MVHS athletics as a whole.
"I appreciate the recognition, but none of what we do as ADs is possible without support from a strong administrative team, an excellent coaching staff, and a great community to work in with exceptional student-athletes," Ecker said. "I'm proud of the progress Mt. Vernon has made in all facets and look forward to our continued growth as a corporation."
Mt. Vernon’s Superintendent, Dr. Jack Parker, states, “Mr. Ecker exemplifies the definition of an outstanding leader with his hard work, integrity and decision-making skills. We are proud the IIAAA has recognized him for his leadership and commitment to Mt. Vernon High School athletics.”
