Due to the incredible success of the first Mt. Vernon High School (MVHS) Career Fair last fall, MVHS is hosting its second career fair for the 2017-18 school year! It will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m in the MVHS gymnasium.
The event is open to all juniors and seniors. These students will have an opportunity to walk around and talk to different booths, learn more about local job opportunities, and make connections with employers. The Career Fair will provide a great opportunity to link employers to students while giving students direct access to internships, part-time employment, summer jobs and full time employment.
Earlier this school year, over 40 businesses attended the career fair and the students spent 45 minutes walking around and interacting with employers. This opportunity proved to be a very fruitful experience for some students and employers. For example, at the MVHS career fair a realtor hired a MVHS student to manage her social media. The student receives a solid hourly wage, plus a $1,000 bonus towards her post-secondary education if she works through the summer.
