A Day in Agriculture

The Mt. Vernon FFA will be hosting its first “Day in Agriculture” event. On this day elementary students will learn that agriculture is not just farming. Classes will stay together throughout the day as they move from station to station that our officers have prepared. Each of these will focus on one major sector of agriculture. These stations will also feature hands on experiences for each student. The stations with their activities are as follows:

Animal Science- “Animals Are Food”

Ag Mechanics- “Mechanics Use Tools”

Horticulture- ”Grow Your Own Bean”

FFA- ”Color the Emblem”

Food Science- “Ice Cream in Minutes”

Natural Resources- ”Want or Need?”

All these events will be held in the High School Gym. Check in will start at 9 A.M. on September 24th; we will begin the rotation at 9:45 A.M. Lunchtime will be at noon, lasting 40 minutes; it is requested that each student brings their own lunch, as we will not be providing any food. Classes will be released at 1 P.M. to leave for their schools.

It is requested that each class brings an adequate number of adult chaperones to supervise their students.

There will be no cost for this event.

Reservations are due on September 20th
