  • Science Olympiad Members that are going with us to Butler this weekend, need to get a permission packet from Mr. Everett as soon as possible. This is a new packet. Your old permissions do not work for this weekend.

  • Thursday, Feb 26th is FAFSA Day.  Seniors, if you are planning on attending college in the fall of 2015, you need to complete the FAFSA by March 10th.   Your parents can come in to work on their FAFSA  from 8:30 a.m until 7:00 p.m.  

  • Hey Green Team members.  It's time to step up and recycle your area.  We need to do a great job today since we have not recycled for nearly two weeks. The temperature will be in the mid twenties. Thanks for keeping our school green.

  • Senior Honor Night is quickly approaching.  It will take place on February 27th at the boys Basketball game against Yorktown.  If you are interested in participating, pick up forms in the Athletic Dept.
  • Are you a junior or senior interested in working 9 weeks during the summer doing Cancer research at the Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center.  If so, you must apply and be selected.  Your GPA must be a 3.0 or higher.  The program is nine weeks long and you will receive a stipend if selected.  Pick up info in the Guidance Center.
  • There will be at softball call out meeting during SRT in D104 Tuesday, March 3 for any girl interested in playing softball this spring.
  • It's that time of year again! The high school choral department will be performing its' annual jazz and swing concert,'Swingin' the Night Away' on February 27th at 7:00 PM in the MVHS cafeteria and lobby. Admission to Swingin' the Night Away is $7.00 for all adults, and free for students. The evening will include performances from all the vocal groups at MVHS as well as our special guests, the Mississinewa Valley Swing Band. Don't forget to bring your dancing shoes, because the dance floor will be open throughout the evening for you to strut your stuff as well! A spaghetti dinner is included with your admission this year, too, so bring your appetite!

  • Lastly, there will be FREE swing dance lessons in the high school choir room tonight from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. These are open to the public. We hope you take advantage of this fun and free evening of dance instruction. No previous dance skills are required. Don't forget to bring a dance partner!

  • Mt. Vernon student government will be hosting a dodgeball tournament onSaturday February 28! Teams will consist of 7 players and it is $3 to watch. Cash prizes will be distributed to the winners. Gather some friends and sign up! Contact MVHS StuGov or Molly Laughlin to get rules and registration papers. Fees and registration will be due by February 25.

  • Are you having trouble with Spanish? Plan to attend Senora Laughlin's SRT every Thursday in room A108 for help with Spanish. AP Spanish students will be there to assist you... and it is free tutoring!
  • Baseball and softball sign ups for the Mt. Vernon Optimist program registration runs thru April 9th. .  Baseball is for kids aged 13 thru 18. The cost for registration is $90 now thru March 30th and $105 from April 1st thru the 9th. Softball sign ups for girls 14 and under.  Registration for softball runs thru March 7th and the cost is $90 from now until Feb 28th and $105 from March 1st thru March 8th.
