Welcome Home Ceremony for Vietnam and Korean War Veterans

Veteran Saluting to Flag

On Friday December 1st at 1p.m., the Mt. Vernon High School history classes are inviting the community to attend a Welcome Home ceremony for all Vietnam and Korean War Veterans! High school students struggle to understand why these veterans weren't welcomed home since they grew up in a post-9/11 era.  This event gives the veterans a welcome home that they should have received years ago, and also teaches students a lesson they won’t receive from a textbook.Welcome Home Veterans Flyer

The Welcome Home ceremony will be in the Media Center at Mt. Vernon High School at 1 p.m.  After the ceremony is over, Mt. Vernon High School welcomes the veterans to stay and talk to students about their jobs and experiences while in Vietnam and Korea.

All Vietnam and Korean War veterans are requested to RSVP by calling Jennifer Roland at (317) 315-6215 or by email at Jennifer.Roland@mvcsc.k12.in.us.

Everyone in the community is invited to come to the Welcome Home reception and greet these special veterans; no RSVP is needed for the community to attend.
