Welcome to my classroom! My name is Christina Grandstaff and I teach second grade here at Mt. Comfort Elementary School. I cannot imagine a better place to work and learn than MCE. While my path to teaching was not a traditional one, I see see how every life choice I made up until this point was preparing me for this "second" career.
When I graduated from Indiana Wesleyan with a degree in Criminal Justice, I never imagined I would end up in second grade. I spent several years working as a records clerk, advocate for victims of domestic violence, and then a legal secretary. Along the way, I married my best friend and we had five children. I was thrilled to become a stay-at-home mom in 2001 and remained there until I came to work at MCE first as a DIBELS instructor, and then teaching assistant. Working at Mt. Comfort inspired me to return to school and complete the coursework necessary to become a licensed teacher. The people that work in this building make it an incredible place to work and your children are so lucky to be here! All five of my children attended MCE and I have been privileged to see this school from the point of view of a parent, non-certified employee, and now classroom teacher. I am one lucky girl and feel like I am living the dream here in second grade!
I welcome your child into my classroom. All of the second grade teachers work as a team to ensure your child is receiving the best education possible and that their emotional, educational, and social needs are being met. Thank you for trusting us with them and I hope to see you soon and often.
