Good afternoon! I hope everyone had a great week! Here is what is going on in Kindergarten:
Today we had the Walk-a-Thon kickoff. They have only 1 week to order t-shirts. T-shirt orders are due Friday, September 8th. They have 2 weeks to collect money. Money is due Friday, September 15th. Friday, Sept 22 is our Walk-a-Thon. I am sending home information this afternoon from our PTO.
Just a reminder: All coupon books and money are due Tuesday, Sept. 5th. Extra books that have been ordered will be sent home on this day.
Wednesday, September 20th will be an e-learning day for all students. Students will not come to school that day. We just found out that Parent teacher conferences will be conducted this day as well. Additional information will be forthcoming.
Monday, Sept 25 Kindergarten Field Trip. Please have the money and permission slip both turned in together by Monday September 11th. The cost is $16 and each child may bring one adult. The cost for an adult is an additional $8. So if you plan on going with your child you will pay $24 total.
Friday, Sept 29 Kindergarten College Field Trip
So far I have 2 parents that are going to that one. I need 2 more parents for for the IUPUI field trip. At the bottom of the field trip permission slip please indicate if your child with have the schools packed lunch or if your child will bring a packed lunch from home. The cafeteria will need that count soon.
If I sent home a paper for the ipad insurance please fill that out and return or your child won't be able to take their ipads home. We will begin sending ipads home next week. It won't be used for homework. It is to be used to practice taking to and from school and to practice for elearning days.
Next week we will be working on:
-Reviewing sight words (I, like, the) and introducing a new sight word (and). I am planning on sending a copy of the sight words home so students can practice them at home (they will be able to make flash cards to practice like they do here at school).
-Focusing on the letter of the week (Mm), we will be identifying things that make the /m/ sound as well as identifying the letter Mm.
-Community helpers week 2. Police officers are going to try and come and talk with the kids as well as a sanitation worker.
-Counting, identifying shapes and how many sides they have, ten frames, introduce patterns and sorting
-Writing the letters B, R, N, M. Students will learn how to correctly form the letters and use the correct pencil grip.
Thank you so much for all you do! I really appreciate it! If you have any questions or concerns please let me know. Have a great 3 day weekend!
