The media center provides reference books, computer databases, fiction and non-fiction materials. Books have a three week loan period. Reference materials may be checked out overnight only. Fines of five cents per day per item are charged for late materials. The media center is open throughout the day and students may use the media center with a pass from a teacher. Students may come to the media center during their lunch period but they must arrive before the late bell and must stay the complete lunch time. Students using the media during SRT also must arrive by the bell and stay the entire SRT block.
I grew up in a small town in east central Ohio named Newcomerstown. Newcomerstown is the hometown of two famous athletes- Cy Young (famous baseball pitcher) and Woody Hayes (Ohio State football coach). After graduating from Newcomerstown High School I went to college for one year, got married and started a family. After 10 years as a stay at home mom, I got a job as a library aide for Union County School Corporation and started back to college. I worked full time for six years and went to college part time before getting my undergrad degree from IUPUI and a masters of library science from Ball State University. I have the best job in the building for I am able to help students and teachers. There is always something new and exciting to do everyday. I particularly enjoy research and helping students with research projects. I have sponsored a book club for the last several years . I am reading constantly and I confess that I pick up a mystery more often than not. Mrs. Stafford and I are looking forward to opening the new media center in the Fall of next year.
