Mt. Comfort Elementary (MCE) and the Mt. Vernon community are supporting a student, Tyler, in his journey as he battles leukemia. MCE classes collecting donations for Riley Hospital in Tyler's name. The school is also hosting a Riley fundraiser in support of Tyler; students can fill out a Riley card for $1 that will be posted throughout the school. A spirit week from January 22nd through January 26th will include fun dress up days such as Pajama Day, Hat Day, and a day where students will dress in all green (Tyler’s favorite color!) Since Mr. Boudouris is Tyler’s favorite teacher, the class that raises the most money will have three students from that class help shave Mr. Boudouris’ head!
MCE teachers are also supporting Tyler and his fight with leukemia. They are purchasing shirts that say “Fight Like Ty. All proceeds from those shirts are donated to a GoFundMe page that was set up for Tyler’s family. Teachers are also wearing green wristbands that say “#FightLikeTy.” Walking through many Mt. Vernon Schools, one would see many staff, students and even the Mt. Vernon High School basketball teams sporting the green wristbands.
In another act of kindness, a group of Mt. Vernon peers and friends went to Tyler's house to shave their heads with him, as he prepares to lose hair due to chemotherapy treatments. The support and acts of good deeds are strong at Mt. Vernon!
The Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation is delighted to have teachers and students who are dedicated to helping Tyler in his difficult journey of battling leukemia. Mt. Vernon is a family that supports each other through tough times, and will continue to be there for Tyler and his family.
