Superintendent Dr. Robbins, on behalf of the School Board of Trustees of the Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation, recognized three outstanding staff members at recent school board meetings. Mrs. Nikki Privett, Mrs. Amy Hoeppner, and Mrs. Maria Bond were all awarded for their phenomenal efforts to make the Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation a safe and welcoming place for students to learn and grow.
Third grade teacher, Mrs. Amy Hoeppner, came to the rescue by performing the Heimlich maneuver when one of her students ran up to her choking after lunch. Her quick thinking and attentiveness saved Fortville Elementary student Abram Witten’s life.
Another life was saved when fifth grade teacher Mrs. Nikki Privett performed the Heimlich maneuver on a student who was choking on pizza. Mrs. Privett’s immediate actions saved Micah Tsamwa and demonstrated how caring and safe-minded the MVCSC staff are.
Mrs. Maria Bond, the Director of Community Relations, was also recognized by Dr. Robbins at a school board meeting for creating a positive image of the district by showcasing and celebrating our students in the media. Her hard work and dedication to the Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation is greatly appreciated.
