MV Students Safely Enjoyed the Eclipse

Watching the Eclipse

At the Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation, students at Fortville Elementary School made the "Day Turn into Night" PJ party all day.  Small groups of supervisedOrbiting with their Eclipses students went outside with special ISO glasses to view the solar eclipse.  Students were monitored closely, and a few parent volunteers assisted with the supervision. Students were truly in awe of the eclipse!

One fun activity the students participated in for the solar eclipse party was creating their own solar eclipses in their art class. During the art class, students were seen "orbiting" with their solar eclipse.Laying in the grass watching the eclipse

Another fun activity the students participated in was putting a time capsule together. They made their time capsules per grade level which will be dug up by the same students at the next eclipse in seven years.

The elementary students were excited as they watched the eclipse through their special glasses. Even the older students at Mt. Comfort Elementary were seen relaxing in the grass with pillows and blankets, enjoying the spectacle.
